Automated ticketing and the 2026 POS rule: what changes (and why you are already set with ClubR)

Updated June 2026 · 4 min read

Heard about the new link between the fiscal recorder and the POS coming in 2026 and wondering whether it affects your venue? Here is a clear guide for event and nightlife organisers, with the short answer and the details that matter.

In short
  • From 1 January 2026 the fiscal recorder and the POS must “talk” to each other.
  • Those certifying takings with access tickets issued by SIAE-certified automated ticketing are outside this rule for the ticketing part.
  • If you use Club Reservation you keep working exactly as today: nothing to do.

What this is about

Lawmakers have established that, from the start of 2026, the fiscal recorder (the tool that stores takings) and electronic payment systems (POS, apps, wallets) must be connected. This lets the Italian Revenue Agency automatically compare digital takings with the fiscal documents produced.

The question many operators ask is simple: “do I need to comply too?”. For those selling tickets through a certified automated ticketing system, in most cases the answer is no. Here is why, through the most common questions.

The questions we hear most

Does my venue have to link the POS to the fiscal recorder?

For ticket sales, no, if you certify takings with access tickets issued by a SIAE-certified automated ticketing system. In that case the requirement introduced in 2026 does not apply to that part of your business.

Which activities fall into this category?

The entertainment activities listed in Table C of Presidential Decree 633/1972, under the VAT regime of art. 74-quater: for example club nights, concerts and live music, cinema, theatres, sporting events, recognised exhibitions, fairs and expos.

Why are SIAE access tickets outside the requirement?

Because the data of the issued tickets is already sent to SIAE and made available to the Revenue Agency. As these takings are excluded from the electronic transmission required by art. 2 of Legislative Decree 127/2015, the technical link between fiscal recorder and POS does not apply.

Can I keep selling online and at the box office as I do now?

Yes. You can issue access tickets both at the box office and online, manage takings and reports as today, and accept POS and electronic payments without any additional connection for ticketing.

What about bar, catering or merchandising?

These are activities separate from the ticket: for them the ordinary rules on fiscal recorder, transmission of takings and POS linking may apply. It is best to check your specific situation with your accountant.
